Paper Packaging Canada - John Mullinder President and CEO

John Mullinder
President and CEO

John Mullinder was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the newly-formed Paper Packaging Canada in June, 2008.

His background includes 18 years as Executive Director of the paper packaging industry’s environmental arm, the Paper & Paperboard Packaging Environmental Council (PPEC). He remains Executive Director of PPEC in addition to his current duties.

As Executive Director of PPEC, John has been closely involved in a broad range of environmental issues, representing the industry in government, industry and environmental forums including Canada’s National Packaging Task Force, the North American Paper Packaging Industry’s “Expert Panel” on issues related to the Wal-Mart scorecard, and on the boards of Waste Diversion Ontario and the Recycling Council of Ontario. PPEC’s major focus in recent years has been on the implications of stewardship fees on the paper industry.

John is New Zealand-born, has an M.A. (Honours) degree in English, and a solid background in journalism (newspapers, business magazines and television news and current affairs). He was New Zealand correspondent for Maclean’s magazine and the Financial Post for five years and prior to being asked to head up the newly-formed PPEC in 1990 was editor of Canada’s Pulp & Paper Journal.
